Odd Journeys to Starbucks and US Capitals
Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 06:44PM Taken a cruise? Check. Eurorailed it? Check. Want to do something different, but don't know what to do? CHECK! Well, read on about some guys who are creating their own "different" trips!
From boingboing, and then originally from radaronline comes this story about a man who's goal in life is to drink a cup of coffee at every Starbucks in the land.
Since 1997 he has been travelling, and when the radaronline article was published he had already been to 5,778 stores in North America and another 355 international ones, and has probably increased that as you read this. Considering how many Starbucks open each day (about 3-5, 40 per month in North America alone!), he's got a big task ahead of him.
Two other guys who are passionate about their travel are these guys here. What is their goal? Simply put, it's to hitchhike and visit all 50 state capitals in 50 days. They can't pay for ANY transportation, and must take a photo in front of every capital building. They also have a blog, so that people can follow along wherever they go.
So my point with this whole post is to tell you that not all trips have to be normal tours, backpacking expeditions, cruises, or whatever. The fun of travel is that you can create your own travel, that while eccentric to others, is fun for you!
